Anti-Ragging Committee

The Government of West Bengal has put into effect the Anti-Ragging Law, formally known as the "West Bengal Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act 2000," aimed at curbing instances of ragging within educational institutions. Additionally, all heads of educational institutions within the State have been instructed by the Government to establish Anti-Ragging Committees, tasked with rigorously enforcing the law and administering strict penalties to any students found engaging in ragging activities.

On May 16th, 2007, the Supreme Court issued a decisive directive, calling for a comprehensive crackdown on ragging across campuses nationwide. Under this mandate, colleges and other educational establishments are obligated to lodge FIRs and impose exemplary sanctions on perpetrators, with the intention of dissuading future occurrences.

In accordance with these mandates and guidelines, an Anti-Ragging Committee is hereby reconvened, adhering to the prescribed norms set forth by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the academic year 2022 – 2023.
